From capture to storage: Patch’s Norway buyer tour

See Norway’s carbon removal story unfold, from BECCS in Oslo to CO₂ storage near Bergen

About this tour

Join Patch for a two-day journey through Norway’s carbon removal ecosystem, moving from the operational reality of capture in Oslo to permanent storage near Bergen.

We’ll begin in Oslo with a visit to Inherit’s newly operational BECCS facility, exploring the project and the work involved in moving carbon removal from first-of-a-kind development towards scale. After a couple of hours on site, we’ll board a private carriage on the Bergen Railway.

The train journey climbs from Oslo through forests and lakes to the Hardangervidda plateau, the highest point on the mainline railway in Northern Europe at more than 1,200 metres. From there, the train descends through mountain valleys, passing rivers, waterfalls and fjords on its way to Bergen. The landscape is part of the experience, not just the backdrop.

Over great food and drinks, the train will become a moving seminar. We’ll discuss what it takes to turn first-of-a-kind projects into reliable infrastructure, how captured CO₂ moves through the chain from source to storage, and what buyers need to understand about scale, timelines, risk and procurement. There will be structured discussions, peer exchange and space for the candid conversations that are difficult to create in a conference room.

We’ll arrive in Bergen late that evening, then head out the following morning to visit Northern Lights’ CO₂ storage site. The visit will complete the journey from capture to storage and show how the different parts of the system connect.

Patch will cover accommodation, meals, ground transport and activities. This event is invite-only and there are limited spaces available.
